17³Ô¹ÏÍø President Dr. Kathy Johnson became the Acting Vice President for Research & Economic Development at the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø in February 2024.
On Sept. 14, 2023, the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System selected Kathy Johnson as the 8th president of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø and the first woman to lead the institution in its 65-year history. President Johnson comes to the University from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where she most recently served for eight years as executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer.
President Johnson serves as the Acting Vice President for Research & Economic Development.
