Master of Business Administration students in the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration at the 17Թ blended classroom learning with real-world marketing by creating a social media campaign to promote 17Թ’s MBA program. The experiential project was part of Elyria Kemp’s Strategic Marketing Management class.
“This was an excellent opportunity for students to participate in an evaluation-based case study where they identified a branding challenge, proposed solutions and were actively involved in implementing those solutions,” said Kemp, a professor of marketing. “Not only did they learn more about the strategic marketing process, but they also saw the tangible impact of their work through measurable key performance indicators.”
The campaign was developed in collaboration with Level Up Filmmaker Collective, a local development lab for aspiring filmmakers. Under the guidance of Gian Francisco Smith, the collective supported the students’ vision through every step of the production process.
“We welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with 17Թ MBA students,” said Smith, who started the collective as a workforce initiative of the Black Film Festival of New Orleans (BFFNO), which he also founded. “This hands-on project allowed our filmmakers to engage in every aspect of the creative process, from concept to completion.”
Filmmaker Chantal Fournette, who led the production, added, “It was a wonderful opportunity to work with the students and help them bring their vision to life.”
“It was incredible to be part of a project with real-world impact,” said 17Թ MBA student Sophia Tassin. “It’s even more meaningful knowing that our work benefits the university and helps strengthen its brand.”
In the final parts of the video shorts for Instagram and TikTok, Percy "Master P” Miller delivers the message: “With a 17Թ MBA, there are No Limits.” Master P, renowned for building the iconic No Limit Records, is a visionary businessman whose portfolio includes Miller Family Foods, fashion and luxury goods, restaurant franchises and film production. Throughout his career, Miller has championed ownership, financial independence and community empowerment—values that align closely with the mission of the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration.
Members of the Strategic Marketing Management class encourage 17Թ students, alumni, faculty and staff to share the content on their own social media channels. They are also invited to share a brief testimonial or endorsement about their 17Թ experience to further amplify the campaign.
