In 17³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Honors Program, we encourage our highest-achieving students to engage with one of the most important resources we have at the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø: the city around us. We foster applied, experiential, interdisciplinary research, with a special emphasis on the opportunities that New Orleans offers us.
You can do University Honors in any discipline as a component of your undergraduate degree. As long as you meet the academic requirements, all it takes is 18 hours of Honors credit, achieved either through designated Honors sections of courses or through an Honors contract for a specific course in your discipline. The University recognizes both University Honors with or without a thesis. Keep in mind that an Honors thesis is done within a discipline, so the research done for it is part of your academic program.
Remember, an Honors thesis can be in any area of study in which 17³Ô¹ÏÍø has a major, whether it be arts, sciences, humanities, education, engineering, or business. We’ll work to help you connect with scholars in your field and make the most of your experience here at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
