Math Tutoring Center

The math tutor center is now open for Spring 2026!

The math tutor center helps students learn mathematics and successfully complete their mathematics requirements at 17�Թ��. Tutoring is free and does not require an advance appointment. The math tutor center is in Room 105 in the Math building, and it is open four days a week, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Further details, such as when specific instructors are on duty, can be found on the schedule for Spring 2026.

Our tutors welcome any questions arising from 1000- and 2000-level Math courses, and can attempt to answer questions from more advanced classes as well!

ADVISING

Academic advising is provided to all undergraduate students. Students should meet with their advisor on a regular basis and must consult with an advisor before registering for classes. First-year students meet with their assigned advisor in the First Year Advising Office in the Privateer Enrollment Center. Once students complete 24 or more credit hours, they are assigned an advisor in their college, which for Mathematics majors is the College of Sciences.

If you feel you are having academic problems, please talk to your advisor or a faculty member.

Computer Labs and Libraries

The Department of Mathematics has many computational resources available to students. Our computer classrooms/labs have been used for courses at all levels, from elementary calculus to the graduate level. When classes are not in session, computer labs are open to students for self directed study. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our computer classrooms enabled a smooth transition to hybrid learning formats, seamlessly integrating in-person and online instruction with an option for recording lectures.

Computer Labs

The department has multiple computer classrooms/labs available for student and faculty use. The labs are all located in the Math Building, in rooms 100, 107, 110, 200, 209, 212, 214, and 218.

17�Թ�� Library

The has nearly one million volumes, as well as numerous journal and ejournal holdings. Mathematics faculty coordinate with 17�Թ�� librarians to maintain up-to-date collections relevant to research activities in the department.

Software Library

Our software library includes TeX, Mathematica, Matlab, ANSYS and numerous specialized mathematical applications and packages. We also have statistical software such as SAS and S-Plus as well as Java and C language capabilities.
